The Aton Impulse Viking is a badass, amphibious off-roader brought into the world by Russia, because of course it is. It may look like a hippopotamus, but this beast is intense in ways that would make a Wrangler wet itself.
Weighing in at over 3,000 pounds (about 1.5 tons), the Aton Impulse can not only handle your standard paved road and off-road trail, but also go for a swim or glide across the top of snow that “even reindeer get stuck” in. Notably, it does it all at a maximum speed of 50 miles per hour on land and seven miles per hour in water.
The Viking’s comical tires are ultra-low pressure, so despite its tremendous weight, it is more environmentally friendly than a standard 4×4. The tires are also what enable it to traverse terrain which would leave your Jeep or truck stuck fast, because its weight is spread out enough to prevent it from digging into the ground. Oh, and ATON IMPULSE, the company that manufactures them, is working on a bullet-proof version of those tires.
A few more of this baby’s perks include the ability to electronically adjust tire pressure and ground clearance from inside the cab, a low center of gravity for roll resistance and complete street legality. That’s right: you could (for the tune of $90,000+) get one of them for your daily driver and take it out to the trail on the weekends.
I wouldn’t advise that though, as it only gets around 15 miles to the gallon.
